Note of Thanks for
Support: The
People First Food Pantry would like to thank The
GFWC Uxbridge Woman’s Club
members for their support and dedication to helping
those less fortunate. With your support, we have
provided food and other necessary items to 1872 (as of
11/08) people in 2008. Your annual Ham Drive helped to
make our families' Easter holiday brighter as many of
our families struggle to feed their families during the
Holiday. Your organization plays an important role in
our ability to provide for those in need. We thank you
for all you do for us and for the community! Have a safe
and happy holiday season!

Fellow Clubwomen,
The Uxbridge High School is sponsoring the Empty Bowl
project to benefit the Food Pantry. The kids in the
UHS ceramics class are making soup bowls and the kids in
the foods/nutrition class are making bread and soup for
the bowls. The public is invited to purchase a $10 bowl
and to enjoy a simple dinner of bread, soup and water.
Dinner may not sound like a "night out", but it is a
dinner that will serve as a constant reminder that this
type of dinner is what some people have every night
around the world. Hunger is a constant in our society
and this project will help to raise the necessary funds
to help support the families that are in need in our own
community. Please come and support UHS's efforts on
behalf of the food pantry. Bowls will be kept by the
purchaser. If you would like to make your own bowl or
help to make the 200 bowls that this event needs, please
contact Gail Blais at the Uxbridge High School 278-8634.
Please encourage your friends and family to attend this
event.
The Empty Bowl project will be held at the Uxbridge
High School cafeteria on March 26th from 5:30 - 7:30.
Fellow Clubwomen,
On Saturday, April 4th from 9am-12pm at the Food
Pantry (located in the Community House behind the
Town Common), The GFWC Uxbridge Woman's Club will be
sponsoring our annual ham drive to benefit the families
served by the People First Food Pantry. Our goal is
to collect 60 hams. These hams will be part of the
Easter food basket distribution. If you would like to
donate please drop off a canned or fresh ham during the
time indicated. Other supplemental items needed are bags
of potatoes and canned pineapple; please email me me
directly if you are able to contribute either of these.
If you are unable to make the specified drop off time,
please contact me. I would be happy to collect hams! If
you are unable to donate a ham, but would still like to
contribute, you may send a check made payable to:
The People First Food Pantry

Please write Woman's Club Ham Drive on memo line.
Your generosity is greatly appreciated!
Bone Marrow Drive
Fellow Clubwomen,
In conjunction with our Annual Easter Ham Drive, the
GFWC Uxbridge Woman's Club will be holding a Community
Bone Marrow Drive. We are coordinating with our December
speaker, Andrew's Helpful Hands, on this effort. Her
organization is currently assisting the family of a 5
year old Worcester girl. Please spread the word, more
details (including the official press release) will
follow shortly.
Both the Easter Ham Drive & the Community Bone Marrow
Drive are being held at the Community House on Court
Street, behind the Uxbridge Town Common (adjacent to the
Congregational Church) on Saturday, April 4th between
9am and 12pm.
Thank you! |
